Motivation
What motivates you? More specifically, what motivates you to make the choices necessary to be able to do things you want/need out of life? I’ve encountered many people who want to simply be able to sit at their desk or in their car without pain or discomfort, but choose to do nothing about it.
I’ve encountered others who want to resume their active lifestyle and will do what it takes to work with their “team” to help them reach those goals.
This is the story of contrasts. Live with it and be miserable. Or do what is needed to resume the joys in life, whatever those may be.
Is the motivation there, but no direction? Most likely. That direction needs a purpose and if the barrier to choose happiness is financial then perhaps looking at priorities is in order. Most of it comes down to committing to yourself and understanding that you deserve the life you envision. You can figure out the financials. If being able to function without pain at work or at play is important, then take the steps necessary to get there. Granted, if you choose to do nothing because of financials you’ve lost nothing but time and energy fighting yourself. You still have the pleasure of dealing with the same issue you’ve decided to live with convinced it’s a new way of living. Sadly, there are people that can help but you’ve chosen otherwise left to figure it out on your own.
You’ll go about trying every other approach except the one you are reluctant to pay for. Had you just gone that route first, you’d save time, energy, and MONEY.
Doctors can help diagnose you, give you drugs, and maybe point you to PT.
Massage can make you feel better in the immediate short term.
Trainers might be able to make you stronger assuming pain is not limiting you. In which case, pain actually inhibits the ability to gain strength. Why? Your body is protecting itself. Unless you address the underlying problem, you end up in a vicious cycle.
PTs whom many are “Doctor(s) of Physical Therapy” are trained to evaluate, assess, and treat the underlying problem causing you grief in your life. Preventing you from being able to sit comfortably at work or in the car. Preventing you from working out or training for the next event. Preventing you from playing with your kids.
Choosing the right Doctor of Physcial Therapy for your needs is the next tough decision after accepting that the pain and discomfort you are feeling is not going away on its own.
